A Turkish delegation visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences UVAS Lahore, And discussed on progressive control of foot-and-mouth disease and development of


breeding improvement and vaccine production in livestock sector and related sectors.


The Turkish delegation comprised on Mr Prof Dr Veli Gulyazi Director of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Institute Turkey while Dr Muhammad Afzal Project Co-coordinator Progressive control FMD, Dr Sana Ullah Bhatti Additional Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab, Dr Khushi Muhammad, Dr Masood Rabbani and many officials present on the occasion.


Dr Muhammad Afzal gave a presentation on Progressive control of FMD foot-and-mouth disease in Pakistan in which he said is known across the world due to economic losses. He said that FMD causes drastic fall in milk and meat production of animals. He spoke about various aspects of FMD for awareness of livestock farmers, breeders and stakeholders. He called for creating a rapid-response mechanism for controlling FMD outbreak. All the experts also gave suggestions and possible solutions to these issues.
