STAFF REPORT ISB: The Pakistan Foundation has conferred Dr Z A Hashmi RandD Gold Medal of the foundation to Prof Dr Asghari Maqsood, Department of Air University, Islamabad, as the Principal Investigator of PSF funded research projects, says a press release. The ceremony was held on the World Science Day for Peace and Development.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid was the chief guest on the occasion and he gave away the gold medal to Prof Dr Asghari along with the Certificate of Recognition which also carries a cash award of Rs100,000.

PSF Prof Chairman Dr Khalil Ahmad Ibupoto has congratulated Prof Dr Asghari Maqsood for the honour conferred on her.

It was the first advanced research laboratory in the country to be headed by a woman scientist. The laboratory has produced internationally recognized research published in numerous journals of repute worldwide.

Prof Maqsood became the fellow of Pakistan Academy of Sciences in 2010, the first lady to achieve the distinction. She worked in NUST from Jan 2008 to 2013 and established Thermal Transport Laboratory through PSF and HEC projects. She supervised MS/MPhil and PhD students. She was decorated with Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2011 by the president of Pakistan.Currently Prof Asghari Maqsood has joined Department of Physics, Air University where she is trying to establish Nano Scale Physics Research Laboratory with her physics colleagues.
