STAFF REPORT IBD: There is an urgent need to strengthen students career counseling system in educational institutions and encourage them the courage to ask questions about different curiosities they confront with.


Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) Secretary General Dr. Anwar Nasim said that while addressing a large gathering of scientists, students and teachers at the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) in connection with a lecture on “Characterization and Synthesis of Piezo-Electric BatiO3 Crystals” by Principal Scientific Officer Dr. Muneeb Asim.


PSF Chairman Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto presided over the function held in connection with the Foundation popular science lecture series.


Dr. Anwar Nasim, a renowned bio-technologist, writer and recipient of Sitara-e-Imitiaz, invited students to give him the example of any two activities in their life in which science is not involved. Dr. Nasim said on answering the question he will give prizes to the students.


Dr. Muneeb Asim and Dr. Shoaib in their multi-media presentation highlighted Characterization and Synthesis of Piezo-Electric BatiO3 Crystals. They said these crystals are a highly demanding product used in defence appliances, especially by navy as well as in ultrasound, high frequency speakers and in shoes to gauge the speed of athletes.


Speaking on this occasion PSF Chairman Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said PSF would continue such activities to provide a platform to students and teachers for interaction to promote and develop science. He thanked the participants for taking keen interest in the lecture.
