STAFF REPORT IBD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and the Ministry of Information Technology have signed an MoU for data centre hosting facility. Minister of State for IT and Telecom Anusha Rahman and President PTCL Waleed Irshad have signed the documents in Islamabad.


This MoU will enable the ministry to host E-Governance Software applications at the PTCL data centre, free of cost, for a period of 15 months.


However, the Electronic Government Directorate (EGD) has remained unable to deploy data center to date.


During the MoU signing ceremony, Waleed Irshad said the government of Pakistan is in the process of implementation of E-Governance programme across the country so PTCL fully supports the E-Governance initiative and PTCL considers it as an honour and mandate to support the government, especially for the provision of hosting of E-Governance applications at PTCL tier-3 Data Center.


The minister appreciated the PTCL for its support and voluntarily provision of Date Center facility to host E-Governance applications. She further added that E-Governance will definitely play a significant role in bringing less paper environment, efficiency, transparency and good governance in the govt.
