STAFF REPORT GILGIT: WWF-Pakistan launched its new project ‘Enhancing the Value of Hydrological Resources for Livelihood, Youth Employability and Climate Resilience in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan’. The venture intends to advance high-proficiency utilization of water assets for high efficiency utilization of water resources, grow high-value horticulture plant yields taking into account business sector opportunities (to enhance employment) and rationing water to improve group flexibility against atmosphere challenge.
The project expects to exhibit high-effectiveness watering system innovations i.e. drip watering system framework; present high beneficial new mixtures of harvests; create worth chains for high-esteem mountain cultivation produce; expanding land with grain species to secure defenceless catchments; farmers, nearby ranchers and youth in nursery administration; handling and quality expansion advancements.
Dr Babar Khan, Senior Manager Conservation and Head Gilgit-Baltistan Region said on the occasion, “Gilgit-Baltistan is an area where scarcely 2% of the area is accessible for agribusiness. Keeping in mind the end goal to mitigate destitution and guarantee nourishment security, the undertaking will advance feasible utilization of water assets, and present better leafy foods mixed bags, and high efficiency drip watering system framework, which will enhance the occupations of mountain individuals”.
