Int’l varsities cooperation in S&T is pertinent to achieve SDGs: Dr Ashraf

Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and Lanzhou University, China have scripted a new chapter of cooperation in order to fortify the S&T endeavors by supplementing each other through various programmes. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed by executives of both the organizations. Lanzhou University delegation is on visit of Pakistan and has affirmed support to Pakistan’s academia and industry.
 Chairman PSF, Dr Muhammad Ashraf commented on the agreement, “The science and technological education uplifting and improving the standards of living of a common man are dotted lines and continual segment of each other. This agreement is launch pad towards sci-tech uplifting through mutual engagement and joint endeavors of PSF and Lanzhou University”.
According to the MoU both institutions have agreed for active research collaboration in the fields of Natural and Physical Sciences which will aggravate the research productivity in coming years. 
“The impact of joint and multidisciplinary research had let Lanzhou University to become one of the top notch universities. Pakistan has immense talent and huge room for improvement in S&T domains, Lanzhou University will support and cooperate in every possible manner to uplift the scientific knowledge base of the country and implicate it on the industry and the general public”, high official of Lanzhou University remarked on the occasion. 
The two-sided joint effort will be set up for equal point of interest, permitting the likelihood of characterizing other examination regions by shared assent, in perspective, however of the potential outcomes accessible and also of experience gained by the two’s researchers Institutions.
The important dignitaries including Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Rana Tanveer was also present on the occasion. He stressed on the human resource development in S&T sector and said, “There is huge responsibility on the shoulders of PSF and MoST to build human resource in S&T sector and engaging foreign universities by establishing smooth relations. PSF is assuming an essential part in limit building and reinforcing the exploratory framework in the nation. The marking of this MoU today is a stage in right heading as these endeavors give an open door and course to our academic group to unleash their programmes”.
The international linkages and collaborations with indigenous S&T organizations and bodies working on development of science and technology are just as crucial as ‘oxygen’ for life. Exchange of ideas, innovations, technology, financial and human capital is imperative to streamline the interlaced objectives that often lack feed due conflict of interests and various other understandable constraints. 
China has been an enviable neighbor of Pakistan and such connectivity through these MoUs and CPEC at large further take the bilateral relation to a greater height. The developed countries have shared knowledge and developed their infrastructure through innovation, knowledge, research and collaborations. This block of collaboration between PSF and Lanzhou University will bolster the scientific knowledge base of the country to huge extent which is the need of present day.
